| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND/SUMMARY: | BACKGROUND
On December 3, 2024, the City Council approved Resolution 2024-094, adopting changes to the Library’s job classifications, new classes, and new salary ranges for some classes. Resolution 2024-094 contained an incorrect reference with respect to salary placement citing Municipal Code Section 2.52.570 Salary Determination – Promotions. The City Council item should have cited Municipal Code Section 2.52.590 Salary Determination – Reclassification of Position, Section B, which is applicable to this action and states:
B. An employee reclassified to a higher classification will receive a salary rate advancement to the same step in the new range. (Ord. 87-1 § 2, 1987).
For clarity, a redlined version of Resolution 2024-094 with exhibits is included as Attachment 2, showing the correct Municipal Code Section reference, and the Staff Report to Council from December 3, 2024, is included as Attachment 3.
RECOMMENDATION
To ensure accurate implementation of the approved salary changes and align with the correct Municipal Code provision, staff recommends that the City Council adopt Resolution 2025-09 (Attachment 1). This resolution will:
- Rescind Resolution 2024-094.
- Adopt a corrected Resolution with the proper Municipal Code citation (Section 2.52.590(B)). The remainder of the Resolution remains accurate.
- Job Descriptions for Supervising Librarian, Library Associate, Library Assistant, and Librarian, are included and labeled as Resolution 2025-09 Exhibits A, B, C, and D respectively.
