SUBJECT:Receive a presentation of two Urban Forest Master Plan (UFMP) deliverables: Tree Inventory and Species in Carmel-by-the-Sea, and the Tree Canopy and Land Cover Assessment 
RECOMMENDATION:

Receive a presentation by City Forester Justin Ono on two components of the upcoming UFMP.

BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:

 

Attachment 1 is a summary of the Tree Inventory of 9,875 City trees broken down by tree species.

 

Attachment 2 is an assessment of the tree canopy and land cover within our City limits. 

 

Both attachments were prepared by Davey Resource Group as part of the UFMP project. Additional reports will be presented to the Forest and Beach Commission over the next few months leading up to the draft UFMP which will contain these technical reports. 

 

Environmental Evaluation

This action does not constitute a project within the meaning of the California Environmental Quality Act under Public Resources Code Section 21065. It has no potential to cause either a direct physical change in the environment or a reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment and, therefore, does not require environmental review.

FISCAL IMPACT:

 

Preparation of these reports are included in UFMP project account.
