The City currently owns the following six vehicles which are no longer in service and should now considered surplus:
1) A 1994 Ford F-250, with 70,840 miles, was previously used by the Public Works Department. This vehicle was replaced by a 2019 Ford F-350.
2) A 2012 Ford Expedition, with 68,280 miles, was used by the Police Department. This vehicle was replaced by a 2021 Dodge Durango.
3) A 2013 Go-4 Parking Enforcement Vehicle, with 45,000 miles, was used by the Police Department. This vehicle was replaced by a 2014 Smart Car.
4) A 2014 Dodge Charger, with 66,000 miles, was also used by the Police Department. This vehicle was replaced by a 2021 Dodge Durango.
5) A 2017 Ford Escape, with 13,111 miles, was used by the Community Planning and Building Department. This vehicle was replaced with two electric Gem cars.
6) A 2010 Isuzu Street Sweeper, with 45,900 miles, was used by the Public Works Department. This vehicle will be replaced by a 2022 Ravo 5 electric street sweeper with expected delivery in April 2023. To City will not sell the existing sweeper until the replacement unit has arrived and is in service.
All six vehicles will be posted on “Public Surplus,“ an online government auction website.
In accordance with Carmel Municipal Code (CMC) Section 3.16.040, Council must authorize the sale of property valued over $500. Per CMC Section 3.16.050, the City may waive the bidding process and approve the sale of property to any individual, firm or corporation.
